TOM TIFFANY IS WRONG FOR WISCONSIN

Tom Tiffany earned the nickname “Toxic Tom” for years of siding with mining and chemical companies over the health and wellbeing of his own district.

Tiffany requested cutting scientist positionS from the WI Department of Natural Resources

Tiffany openly criticized the Wisconsin DNR and objected to a report showing potential environmental hazards of the proposed Gogebic Taconite iron-ore mine in Ashland County.

Tiffany asked former Gov. Scott Walker to include a provision in the state budget axing approximately 17 positions from the Department of Natural Resources' Science Services Bureau. The measure prompted layoff notices for 27 staffers in the science bureau, as well as 30 others in the DNR's communications and education section.

[T]he focus on cutting the science division came at the initiative of Sen. Tom TiffanY”

- George Meyer, Former DNR secretary

Tiffany took nearly $75,000 from pro-iron mining interests, then sponsored a bill to vastly expand mining in Wisconsin

between 2010 and June of 2012, Tiffany received $74,915 from mining interests and others supportive of a mining bill to support the Gogebic Taconite mine in Iron County.

Tiffany then sponsored SB 1, a mining bill supported by Gogebic Taconite, during the next legislative session.
